THE RAILROAD

Depot

Grayling has a rich history in railroading, which goes back to the lumber days, when some of the largest white pines were removed from the area. The Detroit & Mackinac Railway was a main figure in Grayling's history, and some of what remains can be seen there today.

The old depot has been converted into a historical Museum and can be easily accessed at the South end of Downtown.
Caboose
An old woodside style caboose can be seen parked in the depot's front yard. This is truly an "old red caboose" from the Golden Days of Railroading, with a centered cupola. If you like railroading, be sure to catch this classic, as well as visit the museum inside.
