Mecosta is located in the northeast corner of Morton Township along M-20.

It is strategically located between many of Mecosta County�s major chains of lakes, and subsequently a crossroads area for summer tourists.

This town�s name is the same as the County�s and originated from a Potawatomi Indian chief, which means: "Bear Cub."
