Riverside Township Population: 2000() 1990() Change()

Riverside Township is located on the near southwestern border of Missaukee County.

The township was named after the town of Riverside, now extinct, that was situated there. That town began in 1880 when Moses Burket and his son set up a saw mill there. The area was aptly named, as it has two major rivers flowing through it: the Clam River to the north and the Middle Branch to the south.

Today, this township contains some of the richest farmland in Missaukee County. It contains half the city of McBain, which is on its western edge. It is also geologically significant as a major natural gas field.
